Gigabit IPA returns for a (very) limited engagement ahead of Portland’s Google Fiber vote

When Google announced in February that it hoped to bring service to /a>, city officials celebrated by hoisting bottles of Gigabit IPA.

Hopworks Urban Brewery offered the beer briefly, in 2010, during what was then an unsuccessful campaign to bring fiber and its gigabit Internet speeds (1,000 megabits per second.) Google picked Kansas City instead, and Gigabit IPA vanished.

New Relic will be serving the beer Monday when the website optimizer hosts one of its regular Portland FutureTalks. Monday’s (free) talk features Chris Rieth of Socrata talking about “putting data to work to help governments make and share progress.”
